Well, I am out here in Colorado missing the Delta. Tell me how you spent your 4th of July whether or not you celebrated it. My husband and I went to a picnic in a nearby town where I used to teach. Even though Greeley, CO. is just a half hour away, it is different from Ft. Collins where we live. It is out on the plains which are very dried out and yellow now due to the ongoing drought here. Ft. Collins is in the foothills next to the Rockies. At the picnic given by a past principal of mine who became a friend, we visited with her family and ate a real 4Th of July feast-hamburgers, brats, cold baked chicken, stuffed eggs, a wild-rice salad, potato salad, zucchini bread, cookies, and store-bought but tasty looking cakes. Then we visited with my husband's son and his wife and 3 children at their house back in Ft. Collins. Firecrackers started popping before dark even though there is a state law against them. All in all a very nice day. How about you?
Hello, My fourth was relaxing. My boys and I started our day early with breaksfast. We had a real fourth of July meal with my mom and my sister. It was good and the boys enjoyed themselves. It was not too hot so the boys got a chance to play outside with mom. They visited their dad and his family and friends later that day. I got the chance to clean, relax a bit, and mentally get ready for school again. The day was good for me.

I had a great 4th of July too. We had my brother here and one of his two daughters. We had BBQ and the works. Also, One of my friends that is in the Army came to eat with us. It was nice having him home this year since he just got back from a tour in Irac. By the way Dr. K he was at Fort Carson,Co but is now moving to Fort Nox. But the highlight of the day was shooting fireworks of in the rain.

My 4th of July was wonderful. It started out around 6:30 a.m. I was trying to prepare the food before the rain. I got out and started the grill up and prepared the traditional bar-b-que that everyone loves. I spent the rest of the day with family and friends.

I had a awesome 4th of July, my son and I joined our family for BBQ and fun. We really had a great time. We played softball, volleyball, and kickball. All of the kids enjoyed the games and the water balloons. There was so much to do in so little time, but we enjoyed every bit of it.

I miss the BBQ. I guess the thing here are brats. I had never heard of brats until I moved to CO. They are big sausages that people eat on buns like hot dogs. I envy you all the rain.

My fourth was pretty well also. Unfortunately I had a hospital stint a week ago so my family decided to have a HUGE cookout for me so I wouldnt have to do anything. It is always refreshing to now that you have people that love you as much as you love them.

My Fourth of July holiday was spent about like the rest of my "summer vacation." I got up at 6:00 and drove to Starkville, MS to clean my son's apartment since he is moving to another one next year. (I might mention that I left him at home asleep, as it would have taken hours to get him up and going). It is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. I cleaned the apt., drove home, read my assignment for another class and did work related to it. While doing all that, I washed, dried, and ironed 3 loads of clothes and prepared ribs, beans, and potato salad. Then I started reading the assignment for this class for the week. Yes, I am a little crazy! Maybe I'll be glad when school starts so I can get some rest. I did enjoy the ribs, but no fireworks, as it was pouring rain!!! A much needed one, I might add, as we have had very little rain all summer.

Hello. I had a kind of hectic 4th of July. My husband, brother and sister-in-law and myself drove to Duncan, MS from Lula, MS to look at the house that we are attempting to buy. House needs lots of work, but will be well worth the effort. When we got back to Lula, we fired up the grill and cooked some ribs, sausage and potatos. My sis-in-law made a salad and cooked the corn on the cob that my husband just loves. We really just sat around and talked and enjoyed the day. After our 7:00 p.m. dinner and the cleanup, I sat down in front of the computer and did some much needed homework. I really like to be ahead if I can. The rain started about 8:30 p.m. Strong winds, but some much needed rain. I went to bed about 11:30. It was the first 4th of July for my husband and I as a married couple. We got married last September. Yesterday was a blessing, because I needed the break from school.

I didn't do anything. I didn't go home and I didn't any fun. I was invited to go to a friends house, so I got a little something to eat there.

First of all, I teach summer school at Shaw High School from 8-12 each day. We decided that we would have school on the 4th so that we wouldn't have to make that day up. After I got off work, my husband and I went to Hollandale,MS. My husband is from Hollandale,so we spend most holidays with his family. We started to eat at 1:00. I ate hotdogs, ribs, cake, watermelon, icecream, salad, baked beans, and cake. He has a big family so it was plenty of food to eat throughout the day. His family loves to play cards, so after we ate we were actively involved in a spade tournament. I don't like to play with them because they take it very serious. Throughout the day we played cards, danced, and had a wonderful time. We arrived in Cleveland around 10:00 p.m. I was very tired so I showered and went to bed.

Well this was the worst 4th I ever had! Well the weekend was great. We had a family reunion, and I got to see a lot of people that I haven't seen in a while. We went swimming and ate barbeque and fish all day long. I had a wonderful time during the 1st and 2nd. The 4th was terrible. I had to come back to Cleveland because I had to work on Monday. I didn't do anything on the 4th but watch tv. It was so boring...

I woke up on the fourth of July with absolutely nothing on my mind. I could have attended my husband's family picnic but I did not. So, later on that evening I took my one year son along with other members of the family to pizza hut. It was just another day for me.

My fourth of july was spent with my family. It was like a mini family reunion. I saw relatives that I could not remember. The food was good but being around people that you love was just pure joy.

Well, I spent the fourth of July in Jackson, MS with my sister and her family. I had a wonderful time eating ribs, baked beans, corn on the cob etc. and just visiting with my family. The kids enjoyed popping fireworks in the rain. I woke up this morning and traveled back to Clarksdale with my two kids.

The 4th for me was just like any other day. I got up late because it was not a school day and spent the entire day doing nothing, except browsing the web on the computer. Later that day I went to Pizza Hut with some of my family and it was a great close to an otherwise boring day.

I had a wonderful 4th of July. My daughters and I went over to my mom's house. Most of my brothers and sisters were there. We enjoyed each others company. The food was good. Later that even the children popped fireworkers.

I just enjoy reading these topics and discussing with you all. Eventhough I am not in this class, I am going to keep in touch with some of you this way. I bet my 4th was the worst of all. I had ( and still have ) kidney stones. I spent the day in much pain. I did go with my family to my mom's to eat burgers and go to the levee for fireworks in Greenville.

I had a nice 4th of July. My family and I grilled, played dominoes, popped fireworks, and just enjoyed each other all the day.I really was glad when it rained and cooled off everything. It has been very hot and muggy lately. All in all I just thank the Lord for my family and I seeing another day! I did over eat too :)!

Hello everyone! My 4th of July was great. My family chose to have a fish fry instead of barbeque. All I did was eat, eat, eat, and then went to sleep.

I went to Memphis for my 4th of July celebration. This is a tradition I started about 4 years ago. I spend the 4th with my best friend from college and her family. We watch all the fireworks shows we can. This year we started at Shelby Farms. Monday night we went downtown and watched the fireworks on the river. It was a great way to remember exactly why we celebrate the 4th of July and to support our troops.

I had a very good fourth. We grilled burgers and had lots of dips and chips. The kids loved eating all the fresh fruit. This year our fireworks turned out to be a really big hit. Usually we end up with some duds but we got our money's worth this time. They were amazing.
